PHW Fall changes

I chose to make some time to contemplate things this weekend... my primary foods: career, spirituality, physical activity and relationships. Primary foods and secondary foods(the nourishment we eat) need to be in balance for a complete holistic life of true health wealth and happiness. This is what I coach other about..Being that it is September 1st, I reviewed my goals, my past and my vision for the future. This is an exercise I highly recommend, what good is having goals if you do not review them to check your status...I have been open now for 3 months, it has been a balancing act as my business is 4 fold (natural food sales, health coaching, Young Living Essential Oils and Wholeshare coordinator) all while trying to be Super Mom, Housekeeper of the year..and a wife. I have slipped on some of my primary foods and need to re-center. I had a wonderful meditation this afternoon which helped immensely.

In an effort to work on my own primary foods, I had to make some changes. I have developed Fall hours-which may not be feasible for all but they work for me-at this time in my life. I also have certain dates that I will be closed-Unfortunately at this time I have no paid employees. I am always open to volunteers who may want to barter services.  But for now, this is how I will operate the shop. Sundays we are closed for family time. Monday and Tuesday are by appointment only (I saved these 2 days for health coaching activities/office work), Wednesday-Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-12. I hope to be offering workshops Saturday afternoons and group sessions begin in October on Wednesday evenings. That being said, as from stated at the beginning, I am always open by appointment to meet your needs-call me at 315-264-5554 to make other arrangements to stop in the shop-I may be available at the time you call!

I created this business to show others how to live happy and healthy lives. I wanted to incorporate healthy, non-gmo and organic foods to offer to my community. My husband and I have done this out of pocket and it has been challenging, but we have been creative. I decided to offer the Wholeshare shopping opportunity to those interested in healthy foods-to offer more of a selection. I have been keeping track of different suggestions for stock from folks whom have come in (it is all different). I still keep my list, but is impossible to get everything right now..That is where wholeshare is wonderful-they have just about everything you need! If not then the Green polka dot box or Sunfood can meet your needs-you can order from those companies right off my website! here is the link:  http://elizabeth-aust.healthcoach.integrativenutrition.com/ShopwithBeth

Please feel free to check out my website (Peakesharmony.com) to see everything we have to offer, we hope to grow but are taking baby steps..Currently I am level 2 Reiki and studying to be a Reiki Master-this has been a beautiful journey for me, spiritually..this primary food continues to grow..Thank you creator!

AS with the essential oils from Young Living, these are amazing products but again I am unable to keep these in the shop for sale..(Except for the Thieves line that I do carry-toothpaste, mouthwash, cleaning solution and hand soap) I can however help you become a customer or better yet a distributor so you can reap the wholesale benefits as I do(this is so the better option-whether you want to build a business or just order oils for your personal usage). Questions? call me, we will talk!

I felt the need to let all of you wonderful people know what is happeneing in my life and why the changes, I am still here for all of you and hope to see you soon!

And if you too want to learn to live happier and healthier, call me for a FREE health consult, it is 1 hour of my time and all attention on you. Nothing to loose, just more to gain..

Peace&Harmony
Beth

welcome of the full moon, let it be

The morning of the full moon
Sun peeking through the trees of the east
Birds, peacefully signing
squirrels readily building nests and gathering nuts
Not a cloud in sight
Sage cleans the air as a sense of compassion covers my heart
A new beginning is near
The wind gently cleanses my face anew
Humbly, I write
A calmness tingles my body as I rise new a higher vibration
And now, the sounds are clearer
The path widens, there is joy
The lush grass cools my feet
I am rooted to the mother
Life enjoys me
I welcome the full moon as graceful gratitude returns in waves
Let it Be.

An ode to Uncle Bill on his Birthday

The above photos with my family in Maine.and the cabin where my Uncle Bill, Aunt Adeline and family had spent many a summer...below-some pieces I have written in the past..Have you ever felt a connection with someone you may not have been close per say too? a relative, friend or even acquaintance..I suppose as I get older, maybe I am more open or just more aware or just more sensitive to people who have made an impact somehow in my life...Life is short but sweet for certain as Dave says..

From 8/16/11...

what I have learned on my trip to Maine..
-no helmet law, those motorcyclists are called organ donors.
-the numerous "watch for moose on highway" signs are purely for tourists adrenaline...there was no need to freak out..
-family and friends always reach out in a time of need..thank you much
-if a dying old man says a drink at dinner will make him happy...give him the damn drink
-we all have gifts..do not tie up your to do lists with things we can not achieve...create realistic lists within your means and life flows much smoother
-the tide is always higher after a full moon...
-screw story books, listen to life stories of those whom have lived...re-tell those stories to your children..
-life is short, value and honor those who are special in your life..near or far and always smile at miles..per my Dad.

***************************************************************************
from 10/1/11....

Uncle Bill,
Although we lived miles apart and times spent together too few,
Stories told to me by my dad brought me closer to you,
Your converse sneakers and canoe are only a few things that will remind me of you,
Now that your earthly task is complete, your spiritual journey continues,
As you “work the waves” of the Taunton Bay on this cold September day
..I bid adieu…

Happy Birthday Uncle Bill..

Books and hummingbirds..

Like you Uncle Bill, I have accumulated oodles of books, I love them, I like to research-I find it fulfilling. I may not remember everything-but I take notes. Since we spoke last-I have continued my education,-and will expand my lifelong journey of endless learning-For the past year, I have researched, studied, made calls, followed up and talked to anyone who would listen about my business venture. A whole year and soon it will launch. I have been laughed at, used, lied to and have had obstacles thrown in my way. BUT, I have also been supported, loved, acknowledged and accepted. The emotional roller coaster alone in this experience has been deluded. I always found your intellect awe inspiring. As well as your love for nature. I remember how you enjoyed watching the hummingbirds. I researched animal totems-hummingbirds to be exact-and I am humbled by what I have learned.

"By association with the hummingbird power animal, you may have already developed a strong adaptability and are typically quick to respond to any demand. Brought to the extreme, this ability may lead you to emotional instability as you shift rapidly from one feeling or mood to another without warning. The spirit of the hummingbird is a powerful mean to lighten up your mood when you feel down. When facing challenges or an environment plagued by negativity, call on the hummingbird to help you bring a positive outlook on the situation and find your way out with optimism. Don’t be deceived by the size of this spirit animal: Even if the hummingbird is one of the smallest birds, it can travel great distances. Those who have that bird as totem are characterized by their resiliency and their ability to run great distances tirelessly. Inspired by this totem, you will be inclined to accomplish what seems impossible to most while keeping it light and enjoyable. The hummingbird is known for burning a lot of energy quickly to keep flying and therefore needs to find sources of food constantly. If you have the hummingbird as a totem, you may benefit from resting often and taking time to feed yourself with enough, whether it’s physically, emotionally or spiritually, to keep going."

Every time I see a hummingbird, a smile fills my heart and I think of you, you have passed this totem guide to me and I thank you. I will call upon him when the negativity or challenges upon me seem overwhelming. As I continue to push through to become what God intended I will keep flying steadily, meditating, exercising, nourishing my body-loving myself to travel the distance.

...and yes I have the photo Gerry took of a hummingbird visibly in my shop to remind me :)

And I thank you from the  bottom of my heart..for I could not of pursued this far on my journey without your help...

Until we meet again,

Elizabeth

When a door opens

In a few hours I will be opening my doors and exploring a new world..
As my journey continues I am filled with gratitude and love. To think I quit my job as a nurse last April, as I was called to follow a more holistic path and studied nutrition and holistic health...

And despite the lack of my income, health insurance  and other "things" (vacations, new clothes, etc) my family and myself has gone without..We are still here, living, thriving and learning. I love my family for their support through this endeavor and promise them in my heart, I know this will change all of our lives for the better.

It has been about a year and a half since  I decided it was time to listen to my heart and follow my passion. It seems like it has taken a long, long time to get to where I am now. I do understand this life is a gift-we must utilize all our God given gifts-sometimes it just takes some of us longer to realize this.

I continue to learn each new day and truly enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. I will be making every effort to blog weekly on Mondays as my shop will be open Tuesday-Saturdays. This is what you will see as you enter my shop: My bio, mission statement and core values.

Thank you for your continued support..many blessings to all of you.. :)

March against Monsanto..live without GMO's, live freely

I have said this before and I am saying it again-GMO's are dangerous to our health, our environment and our future. We need to stand up together and fight this battle-THIS IS SERIOUS!!

What is it?? GMO-genetically modified organism-scientists have been taking a gene of one species and implanting it into  the DNA of another-I am not talking about hybrids-a yellow rose and a red rose can make a pink rose. I am talking about a fish and a tomato-2 completely different species that would not ever breed together naturally in nature-
********************************************************************************
Today is the March against Monsanto....

Who is Monsanto?

Monsanto is only one of the largest biotech companies that have been genetically modifying foods-and we have been eating them since 1996 without our knowledge or consent.

Monsanto has been around since 1901-began with saccharine-then began creating agricultural chemicals including 2,4D in1945. Sound familiar? This was the main component in Agent Orange that deforested Vietnam-to date, 3 generations out-there are still documented cases of birth defects and deformities-and Monsanto wants to use this as GMO in our food supply. If you interested in learning Monsanto's time line you can see it here: http://www.monsanto.com/whoweare/Pages/monsanto-history.aspx
-my review of history-If Monsanto was not creating chemicals, he was buying companies-mostly seed companies-they also enter merges with other companies-with another big focus on pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and Eli Lily and company. They have also joined forces with other biotech companies such as Dow. As well as acquired Beeologics, which researches and develops biological tools to provide targeted control of pests and diseases-

Monsanto ties with the government..

The most telling evidence that Monsanto’s strategy has been an overwhelming success is the number of former Monsanto employees who have been given jobs in the FDA and other regulatory agencies that monitor Monsanto’s products.

Margaret Miller is just one example. While working as a Monsanto researcher, she contributed to a scientific report for the FDA on Monsanto’s genetically engineered bovine growth hormone. Shortly before the report was submitted, Miller left Monsanto to work at the FDA, where her first job was to review the same report! Assisting Miller was another former Monsanto researcher, Susan Sechen.
Needless to say, the FDA accepted Monsanto’s findings, which became the basis for its approval of Monsanto’s genetically engineered bovine growth hormone and its decision not to require labels on milk produced through the use of the artificial hormone. The FDA official who made the decision not to label Monsanto’s milk was Michael Taylor, who had worked as a lawyer for Monsanto. Today, Michael Taylor is in the Obama Administration, in charge of food safety.
*********************************************************************************
Companies like Monsanto are buying other seed companies, creating new companies, tainting our food crops and making billions of dollars-even off the poor.(who are killing themselves)AND state they do there own research on these seeds-BUT allow no 3rd party testing-OOPS we would not want to find out the truth!!! The FDA scientists who said GMO foods are not safe-FIRED.

Monsanto states they are improving agriculture and lives..Monsanto states: Sustainable agriculture is at the core of Monsanto. We are committed to developing the technologies that enable farmers to produce more crops while conserving more of the natural resources that are essential to their success. (WHEN THEY ARE COSTING THEM MORE MONEY, HEALTH PROBLEMS AND THEIR LIVES)

Monsanto patents many of the seed varieties we develop. Patents are necessary to ensure that we are paid for our products and for investments ...hmmm did you know we could patent a life form???? OH and they sue farmers whose fields have been contaminated by GMO seed!!!
 ********************************************************************************

A Monsanto executive told The New York Times that the safety of genetically engineered foods was the government’s problem, not the company’s: “Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food,” said Phil Angell, Monsanto’s director of corporate communications. “Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA’s job.”  As Angell implies, Monsanto’s interest in selling as much genetically engineered food as possible is in direct conflict with the government’s responsibility for food safety. Monsanto has induced politicians to abdicate their responsibility to protect consumers through generous campaign contributions and heavy lobbying.
*********************************************************************************

"In one small village I visited, 18 farmers had committed suicide after being sucked into GM debts. In some cases, women have taken over farms from their dead husbands - only to kill themselves as well.
Latta Ramesh, 38, drank insecticide after her crops failed - two years after her husband disappeared when the GM debts became too much. She left her ten-year-old son, Rashan, in the care of relatives. 'He cries when he thinks of his mother,' said the dead woman's aunt, sitting listlessly in shade near the fields.
Village after village, families told how they had fallen into debt after being persuaded to buy GM seeds instead of traditional cotton seeds. The price difference is staggering: £10 for 100 grams of GM seed, compared with less than £10 for 1,000 times more traditional seeds.  But GM salesmen and government officials had promised farmers that these were 'magic seeds' - with better crops that would be free from parasites and insects. Indeed, in a bid to promote the uptake of GM seeds, traditional varieties were banned from many government seed banks. The authorities had a vested interest in promoting this new biotechnology. Desperate to escape the grinding poverty of the post-independence years, the Indian government had agreed to allow new bio-tech giants, such as the U.S. market-leader Monsanto, to sell their new seed creations."

***************************************************************************

Livestock and poultry are raised on animal feed, much of which is composed of the leftovers from processing crops, including GM crops.
**************************************************************************************

Are GMOs Safe?
The biotech industry and the FDA both claim that GMOs are the same as their conventional food counterparts – they are “substantially equivalent” and thus safe for us to eat. However, genetic engineering is unpredictable – it can have unintended consequences:
Gene gun insertion of DNA is imprecise and random
    Overproduction of naturally occurring toxins
    Adverse changes in nutritional composition
    Creation of new allergens
Known allergens produced in unexpected places

Yet despite these known risks, the federal government does not mandate human consumption clinical trials or long-term testing on animals or tests for carcinogenicity and allergenicity or independent third-party studies, leaving the burden of “proof of safety” in the hands of those who have the most to gain by the commercial sale of GMOs.
 *********************************************************************************

Despite the lack of federally mandated studies, there is scientific, medical, and anecdotal evidence amassing about the risks to human health from consuming GMOs. A few examples: Bt toxin – a bacterial insecticide produced in some GMO corn – has been found in the bloodstream of 93% of pregnant women and 80% of their fetuses. In the 1990s, a GMO soybean genetically modified to contain a Brazil nut gene was found to cause allergic reactions in humans allergic to Brazil nuts. There are peer-reviewed GMO feeding studies that show toxic or allergenic responses in lab rats. And perhaps most damning is that there are internal memos from FDA scientists citing the risks of GMO safety and toxicity that were disregarded by their superiors.
Environmental Risks
The big three risks to the environment from growing GMO crops are:
The unintentional yet inevitable cross-contamination of organic and conventional crops with GMO crops, which has already occurred
Superbugs resistant to pest-resistant GMO crops have evolved and are destroying those crops
Superweeds resistant to herbicides sprayed on GMO crops have evolved and caused farmers to spray more herbicide per acre than ever before as well as resort to the use of even more-toxic herbicides

So what am I gonna do about it???
-Me personally I am opening a natural foods shop in Oneida, NY offering non-gmo and organic foods..see more at peakesharmony.com. I also research and provide information for all of you, make a conscious decision to be more aware of what I am buying-look for the non GMO label.
 ******************************************************************************
